Anchor text linking questions - How should i divide anchor text linking ratio

I do not think so because if yahoo consider each forum post footer link as back link, then i can have more then 50,000 links, but i do not have those.................

Well I don't know how you managed to make 50,000 postings... haha

I'm serious though.... yahoo is very lazy about determining the quality of links.

Hi,

OK then, sorry my mistake, you meant footer not signature....

That's easy to answer. People still pay a lot of money for sitewide footers from forums, especially webmaster-related forums.

A footer is certainly more powerful than a signature, and can never be excessive in my view - the worst that could happen is that only one will be used as a backlink and the rest will be ignored, but there's no penalty. I've seen that forum footers are counted as strong backlinks - and are even counted by Google.

So, you should always vary your anchor text for different directory submissions, which are in different domains, but for forum footers (all the same domain) there can't be a penalty because that would punish links from the best forums.

Well then from the replies above it can be concluded that links in the signature as well as the footer do help if they are from theme based forums.But even if they are not their is no penalty associated with them in any manner only things is that they are not counted in the backlinks or the value per link is decreased.Also one thing which I understand from above is that having various types of anchor text in different forums will also be helpful.

yes signature links helps for sure. I have seen many guys Purchasing and selling Signature links in few forums.
