Twitter's Bengaluru Operations To Focus On New Markets
Twitter is chanting the 'act local' mantra. The microblogging platform, which acquired Bengaluru-based ZipDial earlier this year for $35 million, plans to ramp up its engineering team here from about 30 people to 50 by year-end. It will also hire a head of growth to get more Indians hooked to its tweets. Twitter's Bengaluru operations — its second engineering centre after the US — is emerging as a nerve centre for developing products targeted at India and other emerging markets in the rest of Asia, in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.
